Initial ideas - Dimsum

A range of initial ideas for the Dimsum brief. It's a 1 week brief and as there's quite a lot of information to collect and categorise, I need to generate some decent ideas quite quickly so that I can use the time effectively to develop the design and visual approach.

Problem analysis
From my research and personal experience, it's evident that not many British people particularly the younger audience are venturing or even know about Dimsum as a Chinese cuisine. Being very similar to Spanish Tapas in terms of the concept of it, it's quite surprising how it's still quite unknown to the UK audience eventhough it's relatively wide spread in the country. After doing some secondary and primary research, it seems that the reason for this is that the majority of the restaurants that serve it don't really make much effort to sell this traditional cuisine, therefore people are unaware of what it's about.

Solution
In response to my research, I have decided to promote Dimsum by developing an engaging print based booklet that explains the cuisine in a simplified yet interesting way. The booklet will contain the origins, brief history and concept of Dimsum dining, aswell as folding out into a full size poster that showcases the most popular dimsum dishes, organised and categorised into different sections while containing the nutrition and characteristics of each dish. This would aim to inform, educate and intrigue viewers to trying out the traditional cuisine. The tone of voice would be quite informative, and fun, Dimsum is all about a gathering of people and having a good time while sharing numerous mini dishes, therefore I needed to develop something that fits in with this.
